Mampazha Pulissery

Mambazha pulissery is a signature kerala dish.

You Required
  1. Mangoes (Ripe) - 2
  2. Green Chillies - 5
  3. Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
  4. Salt - to taste
  5. Water - 1 cup
  6. Buttermilk - 1 1/2 cup
To grind together
  1. Grated Coconut- 1cup
  2. Cumin seeds - 2 pinch
  3. Red Chilli powder - 1 tsp
To temper
  1. Coconut Oil - 11/2 -2 tbsp
  2. Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp
  3. Fenugreek Seeds - 1/4 tsp
  4. Whole Red Chilli - 2
  5. Curry Leaves - 2 sprigs

How to make Mambazha Pullisery
  1. Peel mangoes. Small fibrous mangoes are good for this recipe.Ripe whole  chakkara kutti mangoes or small nadan/pulissery mangoes are best. If it is not available you could use any ripe mango (Slice them).
  2. In a pan, combine mangoes, sliced green chillies, salt, water and turmeric powder. Cook until the mangoes are soft.
  3. Grind coconut, cumin seeds and red chilli powder to a very smooth paste.
  4. Now add the prepared coconut paste to the cooked mangoes. Cook it for 4  5 minutes on a medium flame and bring it to boil.
  5. Remove the pan from the flame and add buttermilk to it and stir well.
  6. Heat oil in a pan and mustard seeds to it and let it splutter, then add fenugreek seeds, dry red chilli and curry leaves. Now add this to prepared curry and mix well.
Serve with rice.
